Ashley McBride explains why she hasn’t spoken to Dolly Parton in 10 years.

McBride opened up to Fox News Digital about an incident at Parton’s lake house, which was undergoing renovations at the time. According to McBride, she was babysitting for Parton when a bagel bite caught fire in the microwave and started a small fire.

McBride was able to put out the fire, but not before they damaged the walls of one of Parton’s rooms, something she is still ashamed of.

“It had to do with some bagel bites and a microwave that caught fire and I opened the microwave and ran out to find that everything was fine, except for the freshly wallpapered room that I was in there for the baby seat that’s all. . Because I was there, it’s embarrassing,” McBride explained. “I haven’t spoken to her since. She gave me the microwave and that was the last time I spoke to her.”

Ashley McBride accepted an invitation from Garth Brooks to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry

McBride previously shared on the Rob + Holly podcast (via Parade) that someone accidentally put an entire box of bagel bits in the microwave to protect the baby, though she didn’t name who.

McBride is nominated for five CMA Awards including Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year. She says she is nervous and feels butterflies in her stomach about all the names.

“I think the butterfly is a huge understatement,” McBride told Fox News Digital. “I think nerves are a big drawback. It’s a performance that you really have to sweat, that’s what’s really important because you’re doing it in front of your friends, and they know when you’re laughing. , so I try to focus on that, so I’m not like that [nervous]. It’s always fun to be in attendance, it’s always fun to be nominated, but to perform on the CMA stage, it was.”

Last month, McBride was surprised by her good friend Garth Brooks during an interview on CBS Mornings.

McBride thought she had been invited on the show to talk about her latest album, “Landville,” when Brooks suddenly appeared on the monitors to officially invite her to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. .

McBride was happy that Brooks was the one to break the news, saying “Garth has always been really good to me. He’s never been, and I never wanted to be, he’s just a naturally nice guy.” She got really confused in the conversation that morning, saying she was “really getting ready to talk about the new record” when she “saw Brooks pop up on the screen.”

“Being invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry is the best thing that can happen to anyone in country music, and I’m really happy and shocked that Garth raised his hand and said, ‘I want the man she Lets you know that he’s part of this family,” McBride said.

Being asked to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry is considered one of the greatest achievements a country music artist can accomplish. Being a member means having the opportunity to attend any Opry show they want as a guest on an episode or host the night.

As a relatively new artist, McBride has found a great sense of encouragement and support among the veteran stars in the country music industry, something he finds encouraging and affirming.
