Date Night In Okc – Hello Hello! It might have been a while! I’ve been a #badblogger lately and I don’t know about regular posts, but with covid… can you blame me? My goal/aspiration was to make it more of a travel blog and less of a fashion blog, but let me tell you…it’s hard to do that when you can’t travel safely! I remind myself that travel doesn’t always have to be across the country or around the world…exploring your own country can be exciting and traveling in your own city can give you a whole new perspective!
I originally started Amanda OK with the intention of sharing about Oklahoma, and even though I’ve branched out since then, I think it’s important to remember my roots. I love sharing how great/great OKC is and I know many of you have found me through local posts. I’ve been getting a lot of requests on Instagram for OKI date night ideas, tips for visiting OKC, or weekend getaways in Oklahoma, so I’m going to check it out while I can. Travel to a new place. If you have any suggestions or ideas for other Okie content you’d like to see, please leave a comment below or DM me on Instagram!
Date Night In Okc
Today I’m helping you plan an OKC date night! I’m sure it’s been a while since most of you had a real date night (thanks, Covid)…and I think it’s time to give it a try! You’ll feel so good afterwards… I know S and I did this after our first day back from quarantine! I’ve listed my favorite options for dinner, drinks, desserts, and nightlife in OKC so you can mix and match the best options for you and your loved one.
Weird But True Animal Date Night Facts
Covid Note: I think all of these measures can be done with good social distancing if you are careful. The restaurants I’ve featured take the necessary measures (or at least claim to), but you can still order take-out or take-out on the terrace!
Frida’s Southwest – This restaurant is inspired by the cuisine of Oklahoma, Santa Fe and Northern Mexico… YUM! It’s in a truly unique building with stunning architectural details and clean white tables, which tells you it’s going to be a great meal. Every dish I have is just the right amount of deliciousness. Their cocktail menu is fantastic too, FYI!
Osteria – If you want Italian, this is the place to go! Italian always seems like a good dinner to me. I blame the lady and the tram. I love the Osteria cacio pepe (the best I’ve had since I was in Rome) – I add it to the chicken! Tip: The Salted Caramel Espressotini is a life changer.
Hall’s Pizza Kitchen is an all-time favorite! The best pizza in Oklahoma and the best pizza I’ve ever had, I crave it all the time. Ask for extra secret sauce and thank me later. Beat the Heat, Sweet, and Sunday Brunch are my personal favorites, but every pizza they make is delicious, you can’t lie.
The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In Oklahoma City
Ann Kraut – We go to Ann Kraut for so many date nights or special events! It has a very European cafe to me that still feels “upscale” without being over the top. It feels small and intimate, just romantic. They always have an excellent wine list + rotating cheese and charcuterie plates, and their menu is full of top ingredients like foie gras and truffles. Yes please.
Black Walnut – I recently visited Black Wool for the first time and have been recommending it to everyone ever since! These are the black businesses I love to support, now more than ever. They have some really unique cocktails and their menu is full of bold flavor pairings unlike any other restaurant in town. Looks like you’ll find something in New York! Everything here is amazing, but my favorite is the honey lavender chicken. DROOL.
Sidecar is a favorite spot for aperitifs or after-dinner cocktails. They have an excellent wine list, beer list and many unique cocktails. I like cucumber slices or toast. Also PSA, their cheese plate is the best in town! There are two locations (Car Alley and Chisholm Creek) and both are wonderful. Chisholm Creek has better patio/rooftop seating if the weather is nice, but Car Alley is a bit more private and intimate (although seating is limited).
Social Capital – I love the Social Capital roof! It overlooks Scissortails Park and downtown OKC and is a great place to admire the city. They have about 100 beers on tap, so there’s something for everyone, plus a few cocktails, canned seltzer and mixed drinks. The rooftop is my favorite spot, but it also has several quiet hidden terraces.
A Plaza District Date Night
Jones Assembly – When the world was ‘normal’, Jones was a meeting place for groups of friends! They often have live music (not sure when it starts though) and a great indoor/outdoor bar with a great drinks menu. I think the menu changes seasonally, but the frosé is always a winner and always on the menu! Jones’s dinner menu is also good, FYI!
Bar Arbolada is the most aesthetic cocktail bar in town! It’s covered in beautiful tiles, marble and gold accents, plants hanging from the windows, yes please! If there is work, it can be noisy, so be prepared. They serve hard liquor, so I usually stick to wine when I go here.
Roxy – My Favorite Ice Cream! There are many places around the metro, but I always go to the original place in the Plaza. All the flavors are delicious and homemade, but my favorite is the salted caramel, you can never go wrong!
KittyBugs is the smallest candy store ever! Kittybugs started out as a snow cone trailer serving winter special hot chocolate. Eventually, they grew up and opened their own sweet shop in a historic house. They always decorate it for the season, it’s so beautiful, and the owners (mother and daughter) are really the sweetest. Their menu is constantly changing (check Instagram for the current week’s menu), but everything is delicious!
Fun Date Night Ideas For Couples In Oklahoma City Or Tulsa
Cafe Disco is the best macarons outside of Laduree in Paris/NYC/LA! Plus, it’s really cute and Instagrammable, which is really important!
Green Goodies is my favorite helmet in town! They also have cookies and many vegetarian or gluten-free options.
Take a walk in Skisortail Park or the numerous gardens – both parks are centrally located and great for walking or sitting. You can even grab Hall’s pizza and a picnic on the lawn! In the absence of Covid, many gardens are showing movies on the lawn in the summer and ice skating in the winter. Food trucks from both parks regularly stop nearby.
Take the Bricktown Water Taxi or the Ferris Wheel – never done but always wanted to! Wheeler Park has plenty of picnic tables and picnic tables (plus the occasional food truck).
The 7 Best Date Night Restaurants In Oklahoma City
Get active – I loved and highly recommend the Bike and Brews tour with Ride OKC (read my experience here). It’s a fun way to see the city from a new perspective, and they have many different “themes” like cookie tours or architecture tours. Riversport OKC is a great option during the warmer months. They have rafting, kayaking, skateboarding, zip lines, giant slides and more. I think a climb to the summit of Silos would be fun and something different for a fun date night.
Museum Visiting – I’m not a huge museum buff, so I don’t have much experience, but here are some museums that people love: OKC Museum of Art, OKC National Memorial and Museum, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The 21c Hotel has an interesting museum on the ground floor. Of course, there’s also the OKC Zoo, which is fun no matter your age!
*In the absence of Covid, you can also catch a game (Thunder Basketball, Dodgers Baseball, Powerball), concert (Jones Assembly, Chesapeake Arena, Zoo Amphitheater, Criterion) or show (Civic Center, Lyric Theatre).
