NEW ORLEANS – The Big Easy is set to host the 2023 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show, February 1-3.

New Orleans, known for its world-class cuisine, jazz music and lively nightlife, is the perfect place to learn, entertain and engage in the livestock industry.

The annual convention will begin on February 1, with Buzz Brainard, the host of Music Row’s happy hour, returning as emcee.

The opening plenary will include a casual conversation between “Yellowstone” producer Taylor Sheridan and National Cattlemen’s Association president and Minnesota cattle producer Dan Schiefelbein.

Both will share farm life, today’s challenges and the story of the industry in an authentic way.

Sheridan is an Academy Award-nominated writer, actor and racer, as well as a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The CattleFax preview session will highlight the demand and supply of beef, cattle and competing proteins.

Analysts will provide a price and profit outlook for all cattle and beef classes to 2023 and beyond, explore export and import markets and provide a grain outlook.

Meteorologist Matt McInnes will give a 2023 weather forecast highlighting changes in weather patterns for the United States and around the world.

Plan to attend Friday morning’s high-level meeting and hear from top government officials as they provide updates on the meat trade climate in the United States and around the world, said NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Administered by Ethan Lane.

The closing plenary will celebrate beef quality assurance programs and BQA award winners sponsored by Beef Checkoff and will feature keynote speaker Chris Koch, who doesn’t let restrictions or barriers stand in his way.

Despite being born without arms and legs, Koch grew up like any other small town kid – playing street hockey, causing trouble at school and helping out on his family’s farm.

Today, Koch is a motivational speaker who inspires his audience to constantly challenge themselves and create the life they’ve always wanted.

Frankie Moscato, winner of the 10th annual National Anthem Contest, will perform during the opening plenary and Friday night.

Country trio Chapel Hearts will bring their Mississippi roots and Louisiana spice together in a special performance to close out the General Assembly.

The convention will conclude on Friday evening with a “Party Grass” featuring country music group Midland and special guest Neil McCoy. The 30th annual Cattlemen’s College will feature live cattle handling demonstrations and 18 educational sessions with industry leaders tackling innovative topics.

The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Banquet and Environmental Stewardship Awards Program Reception will recognize leaders for their achievements and there will be more than eight acres of trade show exhibits to explore.

In addition, producers will work hard to guide both NCBA policy and beef check-off programs.

Annual meetings of the NCBA, Beef Cattle Board, National Cattlemen of America, Cattle Fox and the National Cattle Foundation will also be held.
