George Santos latest news: Congressman accused of making vile joke about Hitler, Jews and Black people on Facebook

George Santos: The imposter in Congress | On the ground

George Santos has now been accused of mocking Hitler and killing Jews and black people in a newly resurfaced Facebook post – making it just the latest scandal to hit the newly elected congressman.

In a 2011 comment on Facebook, received by patch, Mr Santos allegedly wrote: “hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh hiiiiiiiiiiiitlerrrrrrrrr (hight hitler) lolololololololololololol to kill sombody!! mostly jews and black lolllolol !!! An ox.”

Mr Santos’ former roommate confirmed the validity of the account to the outlet and said the congressman would often make anti-Semitic comments. An attorney for Mr. Santos told Patch that the Facebook post was “absolutely false.”

The allegation comes because the congressman has previously been caught in a lie about being Jewish and his grandparents fleeing the Holocaust. He later walked back the claims saying he was “Jewish”.

In addition to being exposed for telling a series of lies during his campaign, Mr. Santos is also under scrutiny over an amended financial disclosure form he filed with the FEC this week. First, there are two loans – for $500,000 and $125,000 – that are no longer recognized as loans coming from Mr. Santos’ personal funds, as they were before.

VOICES: Give him credit, George Santos has done a valuable public service

In the Long Island congressional district he was elected to represent, George Santos is a pariah.

This is electoral politics turned on its head. A member of Congress should, in theory, be more afraid of the Capitol’s snake pit than the people who elected them. It’s because Santos doesn’t tell us something about the state of the Republican Party today.

Santos dodges questions about the treasurer listed on forms saying he didn’t work for the campaign

George Santos escaped questioning Thursday after the man listed as the treasurer claimed he did not work for the congressman in New York.

The latest issue reported by ABC News reporters Thursday stems from filings by several fundraising committees working for Santos’ 2022 campaign with the agency detailing a change in the individual assigned as treasurer for the committees. Those committees are now listed as having their financial operations overseen by Thomas Datwyler, a longtime specialist in political campaign finance.

But there’s just one problem: Mr. Datwyler has adamantly told ABC News that he is not working for the Santos campaign, and in fact let them know before the FEC filings were submitted: “On Monday, we informed “The Santos campaign said Mr. Datwyler would not serve as treasurer,” said Mr. Datwyler’s lawyer, Derek Ross.
