As a talented musician, producer, rapper and singer, RM has created some gems over the years that still hold true today as he released his debut solo album and title track MV Wildflower (feat. Choi Eugene) on December 2nd. Here is a review of all the songs from the album:-

Yoon (feat. Erykah Badu)

The album’s first track, Yoon is a beautiful collaboration between RM and Erykah Badu, an American singer, songwriter, record producer and performer. Influenced by R&B, soul and hip-hop, she rose to prominence in the late 1990s when her debut album Badoism (1997), placed her at the forefront of the new soul movement, earning her the title of ” So Soul Queen” earned the title of honor. Music critics say this song is about RM wanting to go back to his childhood, to appreciate his raw personality that gradually changed as he grew up in life. The song is a catchy, beautiful and melodious piece.

Still Life (feat. Anderson. Pak)

Anderson Pak is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and drummer. He released his first mixtape, OBE Vol. 1, released in 2012 and Venice in 2014. The song is catchy and R&B styled. The song talks about enjoying the slow pace of life while it moves fast and they are constantly growing. They also talk about being seen as a real person and not just a “runner” or their accomplishments. It’s all about being honest.

All Day (Feat. Tablo)

This song holds a lot of importance to RM as well as his fans because he got inspiration to start his career from Epic High, a group that Tablo is a part of. Tablo is a Korean-Canadian hip hop recording artist, singer, composer and record producer. Tablo is known as the leader and producer of the veteran Korean hip-hop group Epic Hye, and is the founder of the independent music label HIGHGRND (High Ground), which includes the bands Hyoko and Black Skirt. The song feels like an insight into his thoughts on music and that everywhere it sounds is the same and there is no more individuality and it’s all about following and following an algorithm rather than finding your own color.

sorry_tuffle ( feat . KimSaul )

This song is a poignant reminder to enjoy the simple moments in our lives rather than the big, shiny achievements that will only gather dust at the end of our lives. RM delivers questions and sad lines as he forgets about all the simple yet beautiful things in his life as he gets lost in the glittering world of fame and recognition. Kim Saul adds his experiences by reminiscing about his childhood.

Close (Paul Blanco, Mahalia)

The song, featuring Paul Blanco and Mahalia, seems like a cry to their true selves as they try to hold on to the world of glamour. RM calls out to his true self and his intrusive thoughts that won’t let him sleep peacefully. Paul Blanco’s true self is with someone else, his lover and he calls her to be close to him so he doesn’t forget himself.

Change pt.2

This is one of the two songs where it’s just RM. In this track, RM talks about a toxic person no longer being in his life and while he’s glad they’re no longer around, the feeling of change is a tough pill to swallow. He confirms that with all the changes in different aspects of life – friends, professional life and others. It is a way of showing that he is not the same person he was before.

crazy

The song gives us an insight into RM’s raw thoughts of feeling alone in a room full of people. One of the most famous musicians in the world, RM feels like an island, surrounded by scary and deep waters. He shows how he does things by himself but he wants love and attention from a loved one, he misses his home and those who miss his home.

cool (feat. cold)

The classic collaboration between RM and Cold is all about them being tired of the same life they’ve been living for decades and wanting someone to be by their side, someone to be in their corner. They want to escape the fast life and be in peace.

Wild Flower (feat. Choi Youjeen) – Title track

RM talked about his 20s and how he grew as an artist and individual and how he went against his ideas. Now that he is nearing the end of his 20s, he relives all the best and worst memories of who he is today. Choi Eugene’s soulful voice adds to the song.

No. 2 (Park Ji Eun)

It is a love letter and they speak and encourage in beautiful words. The heartwarming song gives listeners a new perspective on life and feels like a hug from a lover. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the album – with a sentiment that leaves you with a smile on your face.
