But Benzema shot down the claims, posting a very unimpressed selfie on Instagram with a caption that read: ‘I’m not interested.’

France beat Morocco 2-0 on Wednesday evening to secure their second consecutive appearance in a World Cup final and now have the chance to claim their third World Cup title.

Rumors are circulating that Benzema could have made a heroic comeback from injury to help the virus-hit French team defeat Argentina.

Despite flying home from Qatar, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner is still registered as a member of Les Bleus squad and has been given the green light by Real Madrid to return to Qatar.

It has been reported that Didier Deschamps has told the striker to leave the French camp

Since sustaining the soft tissue injury, the centre-forward has made a quick recovery, with Real Madrid 1-1 friendly against Leganes Earlier this week, there was a possibility that he could rejoin his compatriots to play against Argentina.

But the relationship between him and Deschamps apparently worsened after the manager forced him to leave the camp.

The French coach saw the 2018 World Cup winner struggling with some discomfort in his thigh and said: ‘What a pity Karim that you have to leave.’

France will now face a tough opponent in Argentina, led by seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, but it is clear to see that Benzema will not take part in the game for now.

While France were hit with injuries during the tournament, things got worse for Les Bleus after a virus infiltrated their camp and struck down several key players with illness.

Meanwhile, in a strange chain of events, Benzema may also have attended the final not as a player, but as a guest of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron invited him along with Paul Pogba and other injured stars to watch the final from the terraces.

But it seems, considering his comments on Instagram, the Ballon d’Or winner may not want to accept the president’s invitation.
