There are many business owners in Adams County with whom I disagree politically, and I know there are many who disagree with my political views, but I will never publicly or privately advocate for a boycott of those local business. In today’s world, supporting local business and shopping local is very important.
There are a lot of local idiots out there pushing for a boycott of area businesses because they have the audacity to advertise in the program booklet for the 2021 Adams County Republican Committee Eisenhower Dinner.
These people want to hurt local businesses for buying a $100 ad in a booklet that may have had 500 copies printed over a year ago, the audacity of those businesses. Local businesses specifically mentioned in the latest moron for the boycott include: Tommy’s Pizza, Hollabaugh’s Orchard, Dunlap’s Restaurant, Fourscore Brewery and the Dobbin House.
I believe the woman who called on local people to boycott these long standing and successful businesses in our community has no idea the amount of food and services each of these businesses provide back in Adams County.
Each of these businesses is a big supporter of the county’s many nonprofits, all of which support the county’s school districts with donations ranging from food to supplies to money.
I know the owners of all of these businesses and you will not find better, more community minded, dedicated, hardworking employers in our area. I believe the brain-child behind the boycott push doesn’t think about how boycotting a local business affects their neighbors who work in these businesses, or just doesn’t care.
I wish we could all be as financially independent with such perfect manners as Beth Farnham and not have to worry about our financial future and could live a close minded and self righteous life. I’m sure he’s running around shopping and eating at chain restaurants in Hanover right now.
Everyone who cares, is well aware of my political views and trusts me, many people have boycotted the paper because of my views but I am happy to say that I am not small minded like them or Beth Farnham.
By the way Beth, I can honestly say that not once have any of the under the cover of darkness, secret Adams County Republican meetings that I have attended so that we can change the future of the world have had the idea of -boycott a local business based on politics since. discussed. I believe that Adams County Republicans care too much about our community and neighbors to punish them for their political views.
Roger Lund and I are about as far apart from politics as two people but I admire his business acumen, his hard work and I buy into all his businesses. Jake Schindel and I have many political and personal differences but that doesn’t stop my wife and daughter from going to his coffee shops for coffee or hot chocolate on the weekends, my wife and son that girl likes drinks and food at Jake’s places of business.
Beth, boycotting a business because that business is exercising his First Amendment right to advertise their products and services strikes me as borderline un-American and definitely crosses the line of pure that’s stupid. I remember a political candidate in Adams County talking about putting a boycott on businesses that advertise in local Republican publications, how did that work out in November for the Qually candidate?
By the way, I wrote this column while having lunch at Dunlap’s, now I’m on my way to Hollabaugh’s for fresh fruit, plan to get pizza at Tommy’s tonight and I’m taking my family to the Dobbin House for dinner eventually. of the week.
