Shawn Mendes’ fans are mourning his iconic curly locks after he ditched them for a fresh new buzz cut.
The “Treat You Better” singer, 24, traded in his signature look in favor of a shaved head, which he debuted on Saturday while stepping out to a cafe in Los Angeles.
However, photos of Mendes’ drastic hair transformation in 2023 left fans divided on social media over the weekend.
“I’m so sad right now 😭😭😭,” one person tweeted, and another added, “HELP IDK IF I SHOULD Scream, Cry OR VOICE.”
“I’m grieving,” a third person noted, while someone else asked, “Duuuuude WHYYYYYYY ON EAAARTH.”
In the new snaps, Mendes donned a gray cardigan, white tee and navy blue pants.
He wore the trousers low, exposing the waist of his Calvin Klein underwear, and completed the look with white socks, black Birkenstock shoes and a dark gray scarf.
The singer was last seen on Christmas Day in an Instagram video. At the time, he went for a very cool dip, commonly known as “the polar plunge”.
Mendes, who stripped down to his boxers as he jumped into a river, still had his floppy, brown tresses in the clip.

The social media upload came a few months after he canceled his world tour to focus on his mental health.
“I started this tour excited to finally be playing live again after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, but the reality is that I was completely unprepared for how difficult touring would be after all this time away,” he wrote via Instagram in July. .
“I promise I’ll be back as soon as I take the right time to recover. I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and supporting me on this journey.
He later added that he spent time with his loved ones after finishing the “Awesome” tour to focus on himself.
“I’m taking a lot of time just for therapy, just take it easy, man,” the singer told TMZ in August.
“I think for me it’s just about spending time doing things that I haven’t really done for the last few years, and so having dinner with friends and stuff.”
