Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Ups Nine-Month Sales 28% to $567 Million

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment revealed on February 2 that it earned $567 million in revenue for the nine-month fiscal period ending December 31, 2022. That’s up 28% from revenue of $442 million during the year-ago period. Third-quarter revenue fell nearly 17% to $145 million from $174 million in the year-ago period.

Spider-Man: No Way Home 2022 was the studio’s best-selling retail release following the film’s electronic release on March 22, 2022, followed by a packaged media release on April 12, 2022.

There is no way home It was the highest-grossing theatrical release of 2021 and remains the No. 7 highest-grossing theatrical release of all time with ticket sales of $1.92 billion.

Overall, Sony Pictures’ operating income fell 83% to $197.4 million from operating income of $1.16 billion in the year-ago period. Revenue fell 28% to $2.57 billion from $3.58 billion in the year-ago period.

Sony attributed the decline in operating income/earnings to unfavorable comparisons with the prior-year quarter, which included Spider-Man: No Way Home and Poison: Let there be carnage Revenue, among other publications.

Sony’s highest-grossing theatrical release of 2022, uninformedgrossed $401.7 million worldwide, including $148.6 million on North American screens.
