Brittney Griner is now in a Russian prison for over 5 months. She was arrested earlier this year for carrying a handgun, something that is illegal in Russia and she did so at the very beginning of Russia’s war with Ukraine. As a result of this, she was sentenced to 9 years in prison. Greener’s exact whereabouts remain unknown after she was transferred to a Russian penal colony to serve her 9-year sentence.
A few years before all of this, Brittney was actually a WNBA star. She is even married to another player in the WNBA Glory Johnson. Although, their tumultuous marriage came to an abrupt end after reports of domestic violence began surfacing.

Honorable Johnson, who filed for divorce, accused Britney of becoming violent with her while she was pregnant. Although that doesn’t mean that the whole prison situation doesn’t bother her. This is what she had to say about Britney after their divorce. “After all the things she put me and my family through, I should hate this person. But at the end of the day, I still worry about how she takes it all.”
Is Britney Greener married?
Shortly after her split with Glory Johnson, Greener married her current spouse, Cheryl Greener.
Glory Johnson, despite her differences with her ex Britney, was in full support of her and even went as far as to say that Britney has a beautiful soul and sometimes rash decisions. She even posted a pretty heartfelt message on Instagram explaining how much she cares for Britney and wants her to come home.
We believe this must be a difficult time for Britney and all the people associated with her. The only thing Griner’s friends and family asked was for her to return home safely.
Will we ever see Brittney Greener in the WNBA again?
Despite all the controversies, Britney Greener still has people in her corner who care for her. Even NBA superstars like LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Stephen Curry of the Warriors have spoken out about how she was wrongfully imprisoned and should be. Released.
LeBron James has joined the growing voices calling for the release of WNBA star Brittney Greener from Russia, where she has been detained on drug charges for over 100 days, as the NBA community grows increasingly supportive of her cause. https://t.co/7TUF7ajOJX pic.twitter.com/RxGWBondtq

Hopefully, the U.S. If she can get back home safely, it’s almost inevitable to see her in a WNBA uniform again.
