MEERUT Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called on intellectuals to contribute to making UP a trillion-dollar economy.
Interacting with intellectuals during his visit to Saharanpur on Sunday, Yogi said there are endless investment possibilities in every sector of the state. The best industrial, biofuel, textile, and other sector policies in the country are found in Uttar Pradesh.
He shared that the Global Investors Summit will be held in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to 12 next year and invited businessmen and business owners of Saharanpur to participate in it and invest for the growth and development of the state.
Talking about the ‘gathering of intellectuals’, the CM said, “Saharanpur used to be called a ‘seemant zila’ (marginal district). It borders Uttarakhand on one side and has Haryana on the other. The woodcraft of this district received global recognition. Saharanpur has unlimited potential that needs to be realized.
The CM said that though there was no alternative to growth, people chose the BJP government and its leaders in UP for security and development.
“Today, people do not migrate, but by fulfilling the goal of ‘ease of doing business.’ Uttar Pradesh is getting investment from all over the world,” Yogi said.
Launch 243 development projects worth ₹145 crore in Saharanpur, the chief minister said, “Security is the top priority for us. Politics under those in power before the BJP regime fell prey to ‘parivarwad’ and corruption. A state where ‘hooliganism ‘ was at its peak, people migrated and communal clashes took place every 3-4 days, it has become riot-free now.”
The CM added that during the previous governments, crime was so rampant that no one wanted to visit the state and those who made the investment migrated. Investors have now returned to UP with the restoration of law and order in the state, he said. Criminals are currently fleeing from UP and the government is working to eradicate all forms of crime, criminality, and corruption, Yogi pointed out.
During the event, the CM also watched a short film on the work of the urban development and industrial development department and handed over keys, checks and acceptance certificates to the beneficiaries of various schemes.
Yogi said road connectivity has improved a lot. Before 2017, it took two hours to go from Saharanpur to Muzaffarnagar. The Saharanpur to Shamli and Dehradun route is in bad shape. However, ₹753 crore was spent on the improvement of roads from Saharanpur to Muzaffarnagar. Instead of the two-hour trip, it took 45 minutes, he added.
The CM went on to say that the Saharanpur to Dehradun route was constructed at a cost of Rs ₹1200 crore, will be one of the best in the country.
